Contextural Matters: Found objects and fiber work by Ingrid Restemayer

Merry go round, 2009, Ingrid Restemayer
Opening Reception: September 10, 5 to 8 p.m.
Artist Talk at 6:45
Ingride Restemayer uses embroidery and found objects to create interesting references to our consumerism. I love the idea of the stiches gripping objects that would often be discarded.
As stated in the gallery release, "An upbringing in midwest, middle-class American consumer culture has given Restemayer an uncommon appreciation for the beauty in simple, common objects. Being a recycler and habitual pack-rat for most of her life makes it unnecessary for Restemayer to look any further than the kitchen junk drawer or in the back of an office cabinet to find an inspiring object."
The show runs through October 30.
